Around the age of 14 or so, I was given a Panasonic Stereo Radio Cassette Player for Christmas. I absolutely loved it. I remember flicking the Stereo/Mono switch on it and being thrilled at the difference in sound when playing cassette tapes (yes, cassette tapes!!). The radio cassette player had inbuilt mics, so I could record sounds. For fun with friends, I would record the local ice cream van which visited the housing estate where I lived every few hours or so. I used to record the chimes, then after the van left the area, I'd play the recorded sound back loud ! and we'd watch neighbours come out of the house looking for the ice cream van, which left 15 mins ago. Oh such good times.
I started my musical journey in 1985, joining my first bands and learnt my craft. Some years later, I then secured places on College courses in the early 1990's on Sound & Video Production then Music Tech courses, which introduced me to mixing music properly.
I had my first DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) in 2005 and have been recording/mixing and making music since then. I still learn as much as I can. It is a lifetime endeavour. I have recorded and mixed my own music for 20 years now.
I absolutely love Mixing music. I now develop this and also learning more about Mastering.
